Shawn E. McDermott is a seasoned insurance law litigator with over 30 years of experience, serving communities across Colorado and the Rocky Mountain West. He is the founder and manager of McDermott Law, where he focuses on insurance recovery, bad faith, ERISA, disability, life insurance, personal injury, and wrongful death claims. Shawn has a deep understanding of both ERISA and non-ERISA claims, and his experience spans hundreds of cases in Colorado state courts, federal courts, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Before establishing McDermott Law in 1996, Shawn worked as an associate attorney at Breit, Best Richman and Bosch, where he gained experience handling a wide range of claims, including insurance coverage disputes, catastrophic injuries, and wrongful death cases. Since founding his own firm, he has dedicated his practice to representing individuals against insurance companies, focusing particularly on disability, life, and health insurance claims, as well as ERISA-governed employee benefits cases.

Shawn is actively involved in the legal community, holding memberships with the Denver Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, and the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, including golfing, fly fishing, and motorcycling during the summer, and skiing in the winter.
