In 1965, Robert Shapiro received a business degree in finance from the University of California Los Angeles before attending the Loyola School of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1968.

Mr. Shapiro began his legal career with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, where he spent two years honing his criminal litigation and trial experience. Upon leaving the DA’s Office, Mr. Shapiro launched his career as a criminal defense attorney, representing clients as a sole practitioner.

With more than 30 years of experience in criminal litigation, Mr. Shapiro has represented clients in highly publicized courtroom successes including O.J. Simpson and Cristian Brando before refocusing his legal representation from criminal to civil courts. His ability to provide top-notch litigation experience as an internationally recognized attorney who is renowned inside and outside of the courtroom allows Mr. Shapiro to stand apart in his role at Glaser Weil Fink Howard Avchen & Shapiro LLP, where he is a senior partner at the Los Angeles-based law firm.

In addition to his high-profile celebrity courtroom triumphs, Mr. Shapiro has delivered positive legal results for corporate titans including Diamond Resorts International, Cadeau Express, Rockstar Energy Drink, and Steve Wynn and the Wynn Resorts Limited.

Mr. Shapiro is more than an attorney, but also an entrepreneur. He founded LegalZoom.com and Shoedazzle.com. He is also the author of three books, one of which is a children’s book that focuses on the negative effects of drug use. The latter subject is near to him since the loss of his son to chemical dependency, and the focus of The Brent Shapiro Foundation, a nonprofit organization created to raise drug and alcohol awareness.

Mr. Shapiro has been acknowledged by the National Trial Lawyers Association as a Top 100 Trial Lawyer, and has appeared on all cable and network news channels as a legal expert.
