Robert P. Mougin was born and raised in Southern California, and went on to attend the University of California at San Diego in 1989. After graduating with honors with his degree in Economics, Mr. Mougin went on to complete his Juris Doctorate degree at the University of San Diego in 1996. After passing the California bar exam, Mr. Mougin was immediately sworn in and began defending local businesses in civil claims filed in the San Diego area.

Mr. Mougin was a founding partner in the law firm of Lake & Mougin, LLP, formed in 1997, and specialized in business litigation and personal injury defense. He went on to successfully pass both the Nevada and Arizona bar examinations and thereby expanded the scope of the firm to handle claims made throughout the entire southwest United States.

Mr. Mougin is a nationally recognized mediator with the capacity to seek out creative approaches to case resolution, and the ability to find compromise in the most difficult and heated disputes. He is known for his authenticity, knowledge, hard work and candor. His focus is on business, employment, personal injury and probate cases. In 2021, he was admitted into the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals.
