Matthew P. Montana, Esq. is a criminal defense and civil litigation attorney with Levine & Montana in Peekskill, New York. He has tried more than 50 cases and routinely represents individuals accused of violations, misdemeanors, and felonies.

Before joining Levine & Montana, Mr. Montana served for approximately six and a half years as an Assistant District Attorney with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. As a member of the Trial Division, he handled more than 1,000 criminal cases from inception through disposition.

His prosecutorial and trial experience includes matters involving DWI, assault, robbery, sexual abuse and forcible touching, narcotics sales, identity theft, and trademark counterfeiting.

In addition to criminal defense, Mr. Montana maintains a civil litigation practice focusing on condominium and cooperative law, landlord and tenant matters, and contractual disputes.

In January 2026, Mr. Montana was selected by the Westchester County Office of Assigned Counsel to present an advanced criminal law training program titled “Refuse to Lose at the DMV Refusal Hearing: Strategy, Advocacy & Case Impact.” The program addressed New York DWI defense strategies and DMV Refusal Hearing litigation, including issues involving driving privileges, license revocations, plea negotiations, and criminal case outcomes.
